Windows 8?Follow

#1 Jun 28 2013 at 7:55 AM Rating: Decent
According to the official website ARR is listed as running only on Windows XP/7/ or Vista. Incoming dumb question, but is it safe to assume that the game does not run on Windows 8? Just want to make absolutely sure because I am about to build a new PC and want to know which version of the OS I should go with. Thanks in advance

I would be surprised if you couldn't put it on windows 8. Even if it doesn't support it at this point doesn't mean you can't run it.

I had no problems running the beta client under Windows 8. I just hated 8 so much I went back to 7.

I am on Windows 8 running the beta. I've had no issues other than little lag spikes, but I believe my hdd is causing that. It's ok though, I've got an SSD coming to remedy that problem!!!

But yeah, FFXIV runs fine on windows 8.

SE really needs to clean up all of their web sites. FFXIV AAR does not support XP any longer. Officially it is Vista/7. Head over to beta forum or realm reborn page. lodestone has ffxiv old info still. I should atop posting from my phone so I can do links.

Thanks for the reply guys. I am building my PC here in Tokyo where it is a lot easier getting my hands on an English version of Windows 8, so I just wanted to be sure before I set myself up for a grand disappointment. Also, I agree that while Yoshi has done an amazing job opening the lines of communication with the community, the official site isn't exactly what I would call an information hub.

I play on 8 with no problems.

They officially dropped XP support to focus on 8.

Also running Win 8 no problem. I ran beta phase 2 on Win 7 os, and currently running phase 3 on Win 8, no problems with either OS running it.
