Hello again to all of you eagerly awaiting FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. I know I haven't been pumping out letters as often as I used to, but we've all been working feverishly in preparation for phase 3 of the beta test. Nevertheless, I couldn't let another day go by without bringing you the forty-fifth Letter from the Producer!

We recently attended the Niconico Chokaigi 2 event here in Japan, and I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone who showed up in person, as well as all of you who tuned in from afar. After traveling overseas to events last year like E3, Japan Expo, and Gamescom, it was nice to finally have one here at home. In case you haven't heard through the grapevine yet, we made two important announcements at the event, which I'd like to go over in this letter.

First and foremost, FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn will be released in summer 2013. It will be a worldwide release for the PC and PlayStation 3, available in Japanese, English, French, and German. At the end of the month we'll announce the release date, along with pricing and details on the collector's edition. We'll also start accepting preorders at the end of the month.

Our second important announcement was that phase 3 will start at the beginning of June. Phase 3 will include a multitude of changes based on feedback from the first and second phases, as well as the long-awaited commencement of PlayStation 3 testing. But that's not all—we're also adding Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa, nearly one hundred new FATE encounters, four additional dungeons, main scenario quests up to level 20, grand companies, provisioning missions, free companies; we're making revisions to the battle system, testing the transfer of characters from version 1.0—the list goes on and on. I've been working around the clock, double and triple checking everything along the way, so sit tight and phase 3 will be here before you know it!

It's not just me though—the whole team has been working at full throttle to ensure the game will be ready for a summer release. It won't be long before you can mark your calendars and begin the final countdown!

With phase 2 of the beta test now at an end, I know our beta testers are feeling a bit anxious waiting for phase 3. If the forums are any indication, a good number of you seem to be going through withdrawal, which is a good thing...I think. Anywho, since you all still have a while to wait until phase 3, I found a little something that might help tide you over.

Well, that's all I can give you for now. I'll see you all next time in my seventh LIVE letter. And not long after that, I'll be headed to E3. If you're in America, make sure to drop by!!

Not long now before the 20th or so. Glad to hear from Yoshi again. I'm wondering if the beta will begin the weekend right before E3 so that there will be booths available for testing at the event.

Sweet, even though I have the 1.0 CE, I'm gonna have no choice but to pick up the AAR CE :)

Gotta admit, I'm pretty excited for this still, and the producers letters are helping me get even more hyped.

It looks like they might be able to pull off something good with the re-release.

Good to see there's so much content to explore early on.

I can't wait to see what is in the CE. The first one was really... Disappointing. I've bought CE's for games I no longer play but felt they were justified because there was really cool stuff in them. FFXIV 1.0's didn't really have much of anything.

I'd like to see a much better CE this time around.

Yeah... and I can't NOT get AC as it's my girlfriends birthday present with the special edition 3DS. Which means I will inevitably have to steal it from her and play it.

As much as he trolls has a point. SE says one thing when they mean another. "Soon after E3 and weekly updates after gamescom" never came to be. While you can consider "soon" as anything, let's be real, that wasn't "soon" by most definitions of the word lol.

But what did he say? I can't even noodle out what that sentence means. I wasn't even teasing him, I don't know what he (or you actually) are referring to.

Ok so I got no f'ng clue on some of the post you guys put down. So what I did come away with is:

Nothings changed in the last 2 weeks. other then this confirms it.

in reference to Ostia's post: don't give your hopes up with anything he said.

Cool screen shots but I must admit I liked the FB site screen shots better he really could of given us a smidgen more.

But at least hes not deviating from the "time line" by much.

that sounds like a LOT for a beta... what new things (i.e stuff we DIDNT already see/experience in the beta) will we have to look forward too when the game launches on day one?

also how will they announce the release date at the end of the month when beta phase 3 wouldnt have officially started yet and the beta could very well be expanded/have more bugs to fix which could delay the release date?

Well, storyline quests are only going to level 20. They are only adding in 4 more dungeons so there will still be a bunch more on release, as well as Crystal Tower and Bahamut's Maze. I'm guessing they still won't have the primal battles or AF questlines in the beta. They will probably have even more FATEs (including endgame style FATES I would guess). Also all individual class storylines to 50 as well. Hmm, what else... probably more fleshed out Grand Companies, the housing system, PvP and the Colliseum, Arcanist/Summoner, etc. Don't worry, there should still be plenty more coming for release.
