Do Moogles even have gear slots? Closets, rugs and storage bags galore but the only Moogles I've ever seen with gear were in XIV 1.0. Good King Moggle Mog XVI and his posse.
There were Moogles which helped Locke save Terra from the empire in FFVI (III-US). All they had was pitchforks. I don't recall if they had any other abilities.
Ah yes... My point, the whole idea of Moogles as a playable race doesn't sit well with me. They have always been the machinery behind closed doors that make the world go round. I'm just not sure I am ready to see what is on the other side of the looking glass. It might be neat but I expect it would be more horrifying than not.

They wear visible equipment in the FFTA series and are playable units, which is the Ivalice world. There's a bit of a different stylistic take in that they look a bit less cutesy and more like actual animals--I'd be okay with them introducing the second kind as a sort of variation of the Moogles, like how they have Midlander and Highlander humans, etc. There'd be the Moogles that are already in the game as a non-playable group with their current story role, and then another type that is more social and combative.
But anyway, I always thought it was kind of foolish of SE to not give players the opportunity to play as these races.
@Wint: I'd honestly be enthused about a playable Quina race.
