If it does its gonna be pretty awesome.I know that most will do it once twice but after that they are gonna be bored of it and skip it. But its a small detail that makes it nice.Besides that sometimes i would like to do the ride just for the heck of it, or when i am bored (i tend to get bored a lot from lvling :P).

Haha, that reminds me of a time when I was leveling in Bibiki Bay. We were fighting goblins near the entrance where the pass was quite small. Along came a cute little taru WHM on a chocobo while a near full HP goblin dropped his bomb... The poor taru got one shotted off their chocobo and slid a good 30 feet with their face in the sand.. We had no raise...

How is the actual speed of transportation compared to ffxi?

I'm talking about the actual speed of walking, chocobos, etc. ffxi was pretty slow for me maybe because it felt slow or maps were large. In ffxiv, can you get to destinations faster than ffxi?

The airships were more or less instant once they arrived. Chocobos are the same speed, as is walking and running. You can ride the airship without any quest, just pay the fee.

Every job has access to "Warp" (return) and teleports to aetheryte crystals. There are timers and other limitations, however.
