As of this moment I am thoroughly impressed. They clearly have some extra optimization to do with the ps3 version, but PC graphics look good to go.

Yep, they told me they have engaged a team from Sony working on it and they're about 75% done with optimizing at this point.

There was some stuttering going on in the PS3 videos. I'm hoping that gets resolved with the last 25% of the optimization they have left.

Otherwise, I'm on the edge of my seat here. I really need to finish Ni No Kuni ASAP!

Thanks for all the great eye candy Wint Smiley: grin

Yeah those framerate issues are the last thing they're working on I think. They were sure to mention that Sony was helping them out and that the game would look good on the PS3 as well. The controller UI is really awesome, I think it will be fun to try out on the PC as well.

Great videos. Thanks Wint.

The PS3 version is looking good. Hopefully the game stays at a decent framerate once battle starts and effects are flying everywhere. I would think that they toned down the effects on the PS3 version since the last video I saw of combat looked like a seizure-inducing experience hehe.

They seem to have done away with some of the monster spasms that people were complaining about in the alpha as well, combat was a lot of fun when I tried the hands on.

NDA or not, the stuttering is actually compression issues, same thing happened when they showed off the PC video before. There are a little FPS issues with the PS3 version that's for sure, but I can see some compression issues, but it's not bad.

I'm only impressed by the difference between 1.0 > 2.0, otherwise it's still a wait and see for me. They're trying to compete with current generic MMORPGs so if they land in all the pitfalls that plague those MMOs all of this beauty will be wasted :\

That's good because the mob spasms looked pretty ridiculous heh. I'm really excited for the PS3 version though. Something about having a controller in my hand and kicked back on the couch just seems right. I played FFXI on the ps2 originally and when I tried playing FFXI on the PC without a controller it just didn't feel right.

They did it. They actually did it.

The world feels alive. It felt stale and artificial in 1.0 but these actually look like real places you could visit and walk around in.

Super super excited suddenly. Can't wait to get home and install the benchmark.

I know right? God if I was a billionaire I would buy a huge plot of land and create a society for MMO weirdos who want to live in fantasy land. I'd even name it after one of the worlds in the FF series. It would be incredible.

Ok back to reality.

wow, the game looks a lot more flushed out than even I was expecting it to. I have to say I am even more optimistic now than I was before, and as long as they can add enough content to the game, I have a feeling they might have pulled off a miracle. Very excited for the next couple of months... building a new house (should be ready by May), and then a shiny new MMO to take up my time since I will have no money to go out and do anything >.>

I have to say that controller setup is pretty slick.

I can totally see myself getting familiar enough that its as fast as an action/fighting game. And with the extra sets you can have a setup for different circumstances as well.

Very cool.

Yeah that controller setup isn't too bad. And it looks like the initial limitation of 16 action buttons isn't really a thing since you have several sets you can switch between easily enough.

Yeah I can't wait to try it. I think there were 9 sets (0-9) so you have the possibility of what, 72 different commands on the Cross Hotbar?

0 through 9 would be 10 sets of 16 buttons... so... 160 hotbar buttons? Yeah that should be enough.

It looks really nice but what was wrong with the way ffxi did macros...

Macros will be in ARR. And you can assign them to hotbar action slots.

FFXI's macro system was also super awkward on a controller requiring you to scroll through selections. If you set this system up properly, you'd be a single button combination away from any ability you could need (maybe two if you have to swap to another set).
