Phase 4 is capped to level 20.

I personally think that such a short Beta phase (not talking about test, the phase itself) is a mistake. I have never heard of one that short of a beta before and if there are any major issues it is bound to bite them in the butt. I hope that this isn't the case but I really don't see the point in a phase this short with all the upper level content not yet tested (nor going to be) and new elements added to the game that haven't been tested as well. I guess I will hope for the best and expect the worst in this case. 
P4 is a stress test, nothing more. All of the major bugs have been worked out. The time for this game to be free is over. They worked hard and deserve our money. Everyone needs to come to terms with that.

I doubt it's even a stress test. More like a marketing push.

I don't care about playing the game for free, I have just seen too many MMOs that claimed to have all the major bugs worked out then when the Open Beta phase started, everthing went to hell. I don't want to see that happen with this game but this short of a phase that close to launch doesn't inspire confidence. I want this game to be the best that it can be which is why in every test I have been in I have tried to make sure that I reported all the bugs and issues I came across.

I dont think ppl are worried about 'time to pay"...I have 4 current subs for mmos,had them for a long time now, this will be 5.
I think ppl just want to make sure theres enough time to "get it right" so the initial impression is what SE and everyone expects and is hoping for.

This is exactly my point.
So I'm assuming the start time will be 5am EDT / 2am PDT based on earlier Beta weekend start times.
I guess we're still one week away... I was hoping for tomorrow.. but meh.. I'll be happy to log in next week on Friday and make my character on my PS3!

They are done with content testing in Beta. I'm not sure why that is news today. If 3 days is not enough to test all the bugs, was 7 days going to be? To me it sounds like they are confident in the state of the game. We'll find out if that confidence is justified or not.
But acting like 3 days of Phase 4 is a "huge mistake" but 1 week would magically be enough time to fix everything to me just sounds like "I'm pissed I can't play a few days earlier and longer".

Oh, don't worry. After that flop they released last time, you can bet your bottom dollar that they got it right this time. I doubt anyone would give them a third shot at it, and I'm sure they know it too.

I plan on cleaning the house and getting any shopping out of the way this weekend... next weekend is pure unadulterated FFXIV fun!
