Question about Final Fantasy XIVFollow

#1 Jan 05 2013 at 10:58 AM Rating: Default
Hey guys! I have some questions about FFXIV hope someone could help me:)

So, i've played FFXI for years. was kinda dissappointed with FFXIV. stopped playing after 2 or 3 months when they were asking for monthly fee.
But as always, i always return to final fantasy:P So i went to reinstall it. had some money on paypal. But dang! servers are down?

Any info when they will be back up for the public? i know its because 2.0 but i wasn't able to find a release date.

1. when will servers be back up?
2. Will i be able to play on my old character without missing story stuff(the new stuff from 2.0) Or anything for that mather.
3. Is there anything new? Last bosses i have fought was Ifrit & moogle fights:) Lots of fun!

1. We don't know for sure - best guess is in the early to mid summer.
2. You can re-use your character from 1.0 starting in Open Beta, Phase 4. No dates for that, but if I had to make a guess, I'd say look for it around May. Characters imported from 1.0 will have the "Mark of Dalamud" whatever that is, will retain any custom titles and mounts they earned, etc. They will not have a different storyline from brand new characters as far as we know.
3. 2.0 will have an entire new storyline unto itself. All the lore from 1.0 will remain in place, however.

Well, once the beta applications are open you can apply and maybe you'll get lucky and get some early play in.

As far as I know, the only two custom mounts were the Grand Company chocobos and the goobbue. I didn't see anyone riding anything else.

I'd bet it's more of a late June or early July release. So far, all we know is that the 1.0 players will have the chocobo and goodbue(if they got it) and then Yoshi has showed video rendering of that it'll look like when we get to ride a coerl. That's all we know about mounts thus far unless I've missed something in the last week or so. I've been feeling under the weather and too busy with work to really stay up to speed.

I happen to have a question as well. When ARR goes live will those who already own ff14 have to re-buy it? I know it seems like a silly question but I've been dealing with EA's managerial style and have lost faith in game companies.

No, you won't have to rebuy it (unless you want a PS3 copy). As for EA, I thought its reputation preceded it, but in case you didn't know, it's been considered one of the absolute worst gaming companies for a long while now.

Personally, although I kind of understand the special perks for 1.0 players, I REALLY WANT MY OWN DAMN GOOBBUE. And even though it might not be fair, I really hope they end up making them available to all players later on.

Thank you so much and things were fine in SWTOR till the Doctors and Erickson left. Then EA sent in their hounds and now all the players, even subs, are being treated as cattle with wallets. Not even a month into ftp and the boundaries of p2w are already being tested.

In any case I keep hearing about this Legacy status, what did you need to do to have that kick in? Because I did play a few months after launch.

You had to have paid for 90 consecutive days after they announced it...let me dig up my little guide on how to tell if you have it or not.

Here we go:

How to tell if you're legacy:

Log in to your SE account. Click Select service on the left at the bottom, then pick Final Fantasy XIV. If you have this icon next to the buttons labeled Options List and Cancel Service, you're a legacy member:
